Yeah, to be fair it was on offer when I bought the Sony version and as it was two formats in one seemed ok to re-purchase. There was some new content too like new armour for Shovel Knight and an exclusive extra boss in the form of Kratos from the Gôd of War games.

I did the same thing with Binding of Isaac too come to think of it but in reverse, already had it on PS4/Vita but got it on 3DS as I believe there is some Nintendo specific content and as it's one of the few New 3DS exclusives wanted to make the most of the upgrade.

I'm genuinely surprised there wasn't some kind of Nintendo cameo in the WiiU/3DS version in the same vein as the Sony and MS versions, someone from LoZ or Fire Emblem would've fitted nicely. Maybe they'll do it in one of the future DLC's.

I'm not sure if Nintendo put references in Indie games, but as you said, we'll maybe see in future DLCs.

I think there's been one or two but nothing official, unofficial reference wise I've seen a few like a Metroid one in Guacamelee or LoZ in Binding of Isaac and Adventure Time: Hey Ice King Why'd You Steal Our Garbage. Fingers crossed for the DLC's.

Yeah, Guacamelee had Choozo State's that were an obvious nod to Metroid and a guy trapped in a house that said "I am error" just like the one in Zelda 2 AoL, Binding of Isaac had a NES cartridge that looked like Mario Bros that let you jump, an "I am error" reference as well and 2D underground bits like Links Awakening and Adventure Time: HIKWYSOG had an "It's dangerous to go alone" LoZ reference.

I think it's cool when developers put little easter eggs and references in their games, the recent Zelda games have been good for that. In fact I was going to make a post for the ones in Triforce Heroes similar to what I did for Majora's Mask 3D trying to find them all. So, did you decide on whether to get Shovel Knight in the end mate?

Yes, it's the physical copy.I think that I won't like Plague Knight's style, but I'll do what I can to finish his campaign.I'll tackle the regular challenges, not the boss ones.What do you mean by saying to tell you how I get on?

Also, did you manage to beat the wandering travellers and the optional bosses too?And as for saving, do I need to go to a town and then to the map in order for the game to save?

The Plague Knight campaign is slower paced but it's more customisable, you might find a set up you like. I actually enjoyed parts of it more than the main game. Yep, beat the travellers/bonus bosses. They're fun, quite a quirky set of characters! It autosaves on the world map, no need for menus etc

Yeah, they wouldn't be so mean as to make them a one time deal! Can try again if you lose, they might shuffle around the map a little like SMB3 but otherwise same fight. The only thing is like with the normal levels you'll have lost a little gold but can retrieve it provided you don't die again before doing so.
